I Cannot Relive My Life Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Cannot Relive My Life

I cannot relive my life
I cannot even rewrite it in a convincing way-
I lived as I have lived
With all the failures misses and mistakes
And with after all these years,
The regrets also-

I am happy and surprised too
By many good things and people never expected-

Who would have dreamed I would have lived in Israel
All these years
And have the family I have?

Who would have dreamed I would have a lifetime
To do the work I needed and wanted to do?

There is beside the misses
Much to be grateful for-

No, it is only one life
That's all G-d gives us-

This has been the one I have had so far
I pray I will make it to and through the end
In the best way possible
For those few who truly care for me.
