I Cannot Write My Sadness Away

As I could when I was young
Now my Sadness is older than all Literature
It has a grave before it
And many graves of friends all around

I would like to go beyond it somehow
But I know I cannot

Sadness will be an essential part of who I am
Until I am not.

It little profits that an idle king,

Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
