I Do Not Wish To Hear Poem by Francis Duggan

I Do Not Wish To Hear

I do not wish to hear your life story though I wish you all of the best in life
You are not the only man in the World who can boast of a beautiful wife
And you are not the only man in the World to be an acclaimed millionaire
Your type of man is not endangered and your type of man not even rare.

I cannot admire one for their money or the size of their house or their car
I can only admire anybody for the type of person they are
The way that they treat other people that is such an important thing
In a World of so many poor people of millionaires why should I sing.

You are a managing director of a big company of that you have made it well known
And from what was humble beginnings into a wealthy person you have grown
You enjoy telling of your successes good on you is all I can say
May you only always know plenty and may you never know a poor day.

You boast of your many successes and you boast of your beautiful house
And you boast of the new car you've just bought for your very beautiful spouse
And though I did not ask to hear your life story which you have broadcast far and wide
Good on you but whilst you've been boasting more people of hunger have died.
