I Don't Care Poem by Jon Yttri

I Don't Care

Rating: 5.0

I don't care if you believe in God
Or proof for Him you find unsound.
We're not in the everlasting,
Our feet still touch the ground.
I don't care if what you did was determined in advance
So long as what you did was good and honest.
I don't care if you think things are caused
By state of stars in sea of black.
I only care about the train
When it's on the track.
I don't care what you did when Caesar held command
Or what you'll do when Mars is touched by man.
Searching for a motive is for Marlowe, Hammer, Holmes.
Good ends do not justify bad means.
What comes after can't be heard,
Felt, smelt, tasted, or seen
Except perhaps, when time is Halloween.
If life is a furlough
From our home the great afar
An exceptional vacation
Does not my vocation mar.
