I Don't Know Poem by Randy McClave

I Don't Know

The, 'I don't know' Prayer
To which I would like to declare,
When I don't know what to say or do
When I have not a single clue.
First, go to somewhere that is quiet
Somewhere out of sight,
Maybe to a bathroom or in a closet
"Be alone", once spoke a prophet.
Then when you are there all alone
Then atone,
You are then sitting at the feet of God;
Unshod.
Then unto God I always say
As unto him I worship and pray,
As with an opened soul
Then I say unto the Lord, 'God, I don't know'.
"I don't know", where to go from here
"I do not know", how to escape this fear,
And, "I don't know" what is proceeding
Or where the roads are leading.
"I don't know", how to process this
"I don't know", what to accept or what to dismiss,
And, "I don't know", what to do with these emotions
"I don't know", with these many notions.
"I don't know", how to handle this situation
In any setting or in my relation,
I feel both confused and lost
So, my worries unto you I have tossed.

Then with whatever grain of faith you have
Unto the Lord you then grab,
Then you say, 'but, Lord you already know"
As your belief will and does grow.
Then you leave all your, "I don't knows" at God's feet
With his love and compassion you now feel complete,
God most certainly hears your prayer from when they did begin
Then unto the Lord God you say, "Amen".
