If I died today…
Would I be missed
Would my written word persist
Would I fade into the past
Where memories never last
Would all the poems I write today
Be understood and on display
100 years from now ‘till then
Read anew again and again
Newly discovered poems unpublished
Issued decades after death
Shedding new light on a life extinguished
Or was it really my last breath
All the fame I will never see
Evident through history
Appreciated by a rare few
The talents that they see in me
Who will write my biography?
Who will unravel my mystery?
And the complex simplicity
In all the lines of poetry
That I undyingly present to you
