I'Ll Take Care Of Myself, As Always Poem by Monica O'Connor

I'Ll Take Care Of Myself, As Always

with the opening and closing of doors,
i think of you.

you pass by, linger near, and stand in my doorway.
but you never walk through it.
the possibilities could be endless
if you'd just walk through.
i've waited silently.
i've screamed.
i've demanded that you cross my threshold.
still you stand, dumbfounded, like im speaking a different language.

i need to close my door now.
at this point,
everything i am is long gone,
and its come down to acceptance.

from my doorway you've taken my pride, my diginity,
and you've exposed me, leaving my door wide-open,
its entrance empty.

now my door is closing.
you're only as important as i make you.
my door's been slammed.
and i hope you're shaken, rattled, scared,
shattered, again.
i've done this to myself,
and now ill take care of it myself, as always.
thank you.
