I loved you to the death
The hope of us being one
Make me keep my face set
While the whips pierced deeper than a gun

The tears that poured down in torrents
Were for pain alright
The pain that got my heart rent
Knowing that when I'm not with you, day becomes night

I live now, you see
Because in true love is life
And through me, you would live indeed
If you'd take my hand and step into the light

The cross on which I died stands empty
The one-time occupant now in you lives
