I'M No Hummingbird Poem by Matty Reynolds

I'M No Hummingbird

I'm no hummingbird
Rapidly flying from flower
To sweet scented flower,
Eager to steal what
Nectar is given away.
Heart beating of lust,
Drunk from the sugar
Of uncomplicated love.

I'd rather take you
Like a slow, lumbering
Black and yellow bumble bee.
Digging to the core
For every precious
Little bit of pollen.
Breathing you in,
Wearing you like new skin.
Searching your depths
Taking the treasures offered
And making honey of you.
