' I Miss A Man's Shoulder... '

I Miss A Man’s Shoulder
Structure Of Splendor and Strength
It’s A Woman’s Mountain Boulder
To Rest Her Head Upon and Wish

I Miss A Man’s Shoulder
That Pedestal From A Prince
That “Special Place Holder”
Showing Armor Within It’s Width

Wedging Worry, by Wit and Wisdom
A Bulwark At The Brunt of The Storm
A Man’s Shoulder Is A Shield Form
Tho’ It’s Flesh and Blood and Warm

I Miss A Man’s Shoulder
That Shoulder To Shoulder Defense
That Supports and Sustains Each Other
As A Shoulder To Shoulder Kiss …

… It’s Broader, It’s Bolder,
Blocks: When Winds & World Grows Colder
It’s A Pillow Offered From Her Soldier
For Tears and Fears, Til’ Worst Is Over

That Symbolic, Sculpted Stature
When Loaned … It Gives Composure
God … I Miss A Man’s Shoulder …
I Miss A Man’s Shoulder

poet Helen Hunt Jackson

The month of carnival of all the year,
When Nature lets the wild earth go its way,
And spend whole seasons on a single day.
The spring-time holds her white and purple dear;
