I Run To You Poem by Victoria Cooper

I Run To You

I run to you, like a fawn to its mother.
I run to you to be safe from this earthly battlefield that we call home.
I run to you, far away from this unjust society where success and wealth are all we are expected of, instead of the love and care that you show us oh so effortlessly, as easily as breathing.
I run to you when this cruel, never-ending life becomes to much to bear.
Life is full of despair, hatred, hurt, and agony.
It gives us some of the things we desire, then just pry's it away from our tight grips.
We grasp on tightly to these things, but they are only temporary.
But you are not. That is why I hang on to you, because you are permanent, you are the one who will never let go of my hand, no matter how lose my grip is.
This is why I turn to you. This is why I run to you.
