I saw her once just standing there,
Gazing to the south.
with orange lantana in her hair,
And prayers spouting from her mouth.
I saw her once framed in the sky.
With a bunch of 'widows tears, '
And watched the geese go flying high,
Fleeing winter I greatly feared.
I saw her once, another time,
As her life faded away.
Standing below a fruiting lime,
As she turned to smile my way.
And as she faded from my sight,
Her smile spread in the sky.
As she died in the evening light,
I saw her spirit fly.
