BRUCE MARTONE

I Shall - Poem by BRUCE MARTONE

I SHALL NOT TELL YOU A LIE,
I SHALL TELL YOU THE TRUTH
YES I AM AFRAID TO DIE,
SO I SHALL NOT WASTE WORDS
WHEN THERE NOTHING LEFT TO SAY
BECAUSE IT'S ALL UP TO THE LORD
WHETHER I STAY
OR HE TAKES ME AWAY
SO I SHALL NOT CRY, I SHALL NOT WEEP
I'LL JUST SAY GOODBYE
AND ENJOY MY FOREVER SLEEP
AND IF HE KEEPS ME AROUND
FOR ANOTHER DAY THAT WOULD BE OKAY
BUT WHEN I'M HURTING AND I CAN'T SLEEP
BECAUSE THE PAIN IS HURTING WAY TO DEEP
I'LL JUST COUNT SHEEP
HOPING THE LORD WILL TAKE ME TONIGHT
SO I CAN ENJOY MY FOREVER SLEEP
