I Thought Poem by Brittany Jones

i thought i could make it go away,
take all the hurt and pain that he left you
and throw it away. I thought i could fill in
the shoes of a man who didnt know the definition
of being a man. No i'm not a boi, and no i'm
not a stud. I'm a babi girl who hates seein
tears roll down her mother eyes.
A young woman who is strivin to take the pain away.
I lay awake at night and listen to the sounds,
loud voices that boom through the house like
thunder.
Heavy steps movin back and forth.
I'm terrified to move,
scared of wat might be said when i see
the first blow he strikes,
scared of my afterthoughts when i i see
you lay back in the bed wit him.
A man is wat you call him but a coward is
that he is.
