I Wanted The Sky To Write Me A Poem Poem by Shalom Freedman

I WANTED THE SKY TO WRITE ME A POEM

I wanted the sky to write me a poem
I looked up to its dark spaces, grey clouds, deep stars-
It said to me,

“You are the poem
wander freely
the world is forever open
before you.”

I looked up at the sky again
And the Beauty of the night
Was too great for me
To bear the Silence of.
