I Was Not Born Just To Be Your Friend (Sicilian Sonnet) 2 Poem by Gert Strydom

I Was Not Born Just To Be Your Friend (Sicilian Sonnet) 2

(for Annelize)

I do you in my life and my days miss.
I was not born just to be your best friend,
while in the world the Russians do lives end;
I have known you in kisses and in bliss.

No one was born for a horrid time like this
where Putin tries the world to his will to bend,
and I choose my time and days with you to spend;
no one can the severity of things dismiss,

where the Russians bring to people death and pain,
do in their country not know of this at all.
With you I do want to start over again,
do believe that God protects when people fall
as true as He is I want to remain.
and I rejoice each time, that you do me call.
