I Was On The Edge Of A Certain Happiness Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Was On The Edge Of A Certain Happiness

I WAS ON THE EDGE OF A CERTAIN HAPPINESS

I was on the edge of a certain happiness-
I heard the quietness restored inside-
I began to believe in my life again.
Joy was longing for my anticipation of it –
Happiness again?
Who can believe?
Why should God give this?
What have I in all my questioning and doubt
Done to deserve it?
Who knows maybe this year
Pesach will be as it should be-
Joy and quiet gladness again-
A sense of peace-
I am happy as I write these lines now.
