I Wore A Mask For You Poem by Randy McClave

I Wore A Mask For You

If your child or your parent ever gets sick
Remember it's not because of me,
I care for their health and also for their well being
So, I put them first, I never took the knee.
I did all that I could to protect them
So, I wore a mask and I took all of my vaccines,
Everything that I could do, I always did
I was protecting them, as if I were in the U.S Marines.
I still remember the anti vaxxers protesting
About how this virus is all a lie,
And how it is just all about government control
But, then I think, how do you control those who did die.
I would hate to think that I had infected anyone
And because of my non-actions they were put on a vent,
If daily a machine is breathing for their life
Because a virus unto them I had knowingly sent.
If from a virus your child or your parent ever gets Ill
On the vent this question unto me no one will ever ask,
Because I told them and you that this virus was real
That's why I got my shots, and why I wear a mask.
