I was afraid to love you,
And you had fought to me.
Desperation overtook fear
As life insufferably,
Challenged every ounce of me.
Tears delighted at my fear,
Demounted triumph lingered,
I would listen for the unrelenting siren,
These lessons of society,
Coarse bindings fell to me,
As if I were a prominent child beauty.
When did you forsake me?
For I feel selfish now,
When I can’t escape your gaze,
The voices; they grow loud,
I whittled vainly for my place,
Sentiment absconded,
Pretty did you speak of me,
But I could never be set free.
Count for me my praises,
My lust and charity.
Or perhaps we should let it be.
Time will heal curiosity,
Experience will lend the clarity,
And innocence; impatience to
Let it be.
I loved this! I read it a couple times and I think I sort of got the message after the second time. beautiful language and flow. WOW! !
