If Poem by Juan Olivarez

If

If all the stars fall from the sky,
And the moon no longer glows.
And the oceans all run dry,
And the cock no longer crows.

If the wind no longer blows,
And the sun no longer shines.
It matters not. who or what knows,
Because you will have been mine.

I could bear these things and more,
But I'd be nothing without you.
You are in me deep in my core,
My love of life you do renew.

If I had to do it all again,
And you were a grain of sand.
I'd comb all the world without disdain,
Until I had you in my hand.
