If Poem by John Holdoway

If

If you were mine
I'd give you my time
I'll be there for you night and day
I'd share in your glee
I'll comfort you in your sadness
Or, just whatever maybe

If time could stand still
And the sun would shine
I'd rejoice from the highest hill
To hear you say you’d be mine
Each second in each day, I’d give to you
For you, I remain true

If time broke your heart
And tore you apart
I'd put you together again
I will always be your guardian angel
For that I will remain

If I wasn’t with you to help
You would still feel my presence
I look after you whether you’re awake or asleep
Whether you’re happy, or sad, or, when you weep

If I could hold you in my arms
I'd never let you go
I have you in my heart
I keep you safe from harm

If life had two speeds
I'd want it to go slowly
Then I could spend all my days
Enjoying your company
Losing ourselves in life’s maze
