If Both Of Us Are Protective Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If Both Of Us Are Protective

And I know you know it too.
A truth we feel existing.
And we do not sit...
Wondering about it.

And I see it in your eyes.
A longing to be near.
What makes us stay away?
What we feel does not betray.

And if you came to me,
You would know my heart is yours.
But both of us are wanting more,
To be sure.

We are not afraid of love.
Maybe its splendor.
Maybe its bliss.

We have not touched yet.
But how can that touch be met.
If both of us are protective...
Of a lust we'll get,
We wish is kept.

And I know you know it too.
A truth we feel existing.
And we do not sit...
Wondering about it.

And I see it in your eyes.
A longing to be near.
What makes us stay away?
From what we choose to do,
In bed.
