If Grief Poem by Eric Mwenda

If Grief

If bridges would be of grief
and the loneliness the fuel
that drives a man to build,
If a bank exists
in that world
As i wish one existed in this one..
like the sound banks of a river
upon which a bridge can rest

If grief and tears
would rest so
a bridge would be made

If another empty heart had tried
and won
and made a connection
Across this no river i see,
I too would bore one
of a bleeding heart

I would bore one
of strength and will
of a soul deprived a mate

I would bare one
to carry me to you
or you to me
from that deep hidden,
darkened or lighten,
underworld
That you vanished into
