If I Can Poem by Ajibola Adeoya

If I Can

Rating: 5.0

Can you fly over a rainbow?
When you are yet to cross a lake
Can you really savour mangoes?
If you've not yet tasted grapes
There is so much a man can swallow
so much he can take
'cos have been trying to hallow
only this ground wont break
so I thought,
If I can call Tomorrow
I will do it right away
I will ask her without delay
What the future hold sway
Did I have the patience to wait?
Did I persevere long enough to witness my break?
Or the only courage I managed to summon was the courage to fail
I can only Imagine what she would say.

Don't put till tomorrow
what you can do today
If we procastinate
Is it really time we waste?
'cos all of a sudden
I feel lost in this maze
and I can't seem to find my way
I've been waiting in vain
like a bucket of paint in the rain
I thought, I was running out of patience but now am running out of time
someone out there got some time I can borrow
I don't seem to have enough for today.
But if I can really call tomorrow
I will tell her to please come today.
