If I Was A Horse They'D Have Shot Me By Now! Poem by David Francis Carter

If I Was A Horse They'D Have Shot Me By Now!

I'm glad that I was born a man and not an equine beast
For if I'd been the latter
Life would have surely ceased
Its rare to find a crippled horse
'Cause it's not ethical or fair
So they put a bullet in it's brain
Put an end to it's despair
I'm glad that they don't do the same to men who've had a stroke
''Cause I would like to live my life 'til it's my proper time to croak
My employer has been good to me
And will do what they can
But it looks like I'm retiring
Years ahead of plan.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
