If I Wrote You A Poem Poem by Amy Lynn

If I Wrote You A Poem

If I wrote you a poem today
Would you read it or throw it away?
Would you know it was from the heart
Or be speechless with no place to start?
Would you take it all wrong
Or think that it was way too long?
Too many words to tell how I think
Never knowing when I'm on the brink
Edging on sadness, anger and hate
Not ready to win this everlasting debate
If I wrote you a poem right now
Would you read it or try to avoid it somehow?
Would you decide you don't have the time
To get lost in a page with a rhyme?
Or would you bite your tongue and sit?
Take a time out for a bit
To let me know you care
And that you'll always be there
If I wrote you a poem today
I know you'd read it right away.
