If The World Could Talk Poem by Claire Sanders

If The World Could Talk

Treat me as your chattle no more,

For tis I alone that owns you,

Take off those greedy hands,

I implore you,

Heed my warning, my words,

For I have the power to save or kill,

I am the one you call planet Earth.

Treat me badly no more,

Take away the poisons from my ground,

For I have the power to heal or make you ill,

I am the one that can astound,

Treat me as your possession no more,

Take, take, take is all you do,

I am bereft, feeling emptiness now,

I am the one you should love,

For I am the one you need to save 'you',

Treat me as an experiment no longer,

Take back the chemicals, stop polluting,

For I have the grace to grow, and yet still;

You just keep on digging and looting,

Treat me as a temple, your refuge,

Take back the 'fracking' destruction,

Think, for I have the will to refuse,

You will be gone and I will remain alone,

Treat me wisely, learn from my fears,

Take back the naiivety you have controlling me,

For my roots grow deep, my surface bare and cruel,

Be sure to know, I'm your home, not just your fuel!

Treat me well once more, listen to me,

Help me get well, help me grow naturally green,

Take bake the selfish impulses the need to glean,

For you my friend need me, more than I need you,

For here I am bequeathed to you,

By God or Mother nature,

I am planet Earth, who the hell are you?
