If You Ask Me To Define Love (Sicilian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

If You Ask Me To Define Love (Sicilian Sonnet)

If you did ask me to define love
I would only say that it's profound,
that truly words cannot it bound,
sincerely nothing could it remove.

It\s has the essence of God above,
are in the hearts of mortals found,
a mere smile can spread it around
from of old people did for it strove

and in you I see it in its full beauty
as its impact has something divine
where it fashions our lives to be
as your character closer draws mine
while I know you do truly love me
and even in a harsh world life is fine.
