Illiteracy Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Illiteracy

Feelings cannot be felt from books
They are felt for reason not known to mind
Mind is not guilty of its reason
Because the reason is not derived from the mind.

The beauty of feeling is misplaced,
If reason is evident to mind.
The mind has a tendency to question beauty,
But heart doesn’t need a reason to find.

Emotions do not know why they feel
They are innocent as ignorance cannot be guilty
That is why,
To feel cannot be punished as a crime
Because feelings commit crime unknown to the mind.

You don’t have to know something to feel it
To know something is not a requirement to feel
To feel for reason which is known
Is imperfection of emotion.
