Illusion Poem by Josh Burnett

Illusion

You came into my life and told me that everything you feel was so real.
I gave you my smile and took you under my wing and I was stuck with you for a year.
We hit it off so good at the start, but what happened in the end.
You told me that you would never leave me, you made me believe that you was a friend.

But now I can see that everything you told me was a lie,
And I was such a fool for trying to make it all work out,
But now you are gone just like the wind you walked out,
And now you’re stupid love is just an illusion inside of my mind.

You were once there for me like I was there for you,
I don’t know what happened to that link of trust,
But you no longer really care about anything that I said or how much I’m hurting.
Every time that I tried to explain you only laughed and just spat in my face.

But now I can see that everything you told me was a lie,
And I was such a fool for trying to make it all work out,
But now you are gone just like the wind you walked out,
And now your stupid love is just an illusion inside of my mind.

I bet you my life that you couldn’t even tell me what happened if I asked.
I know exactly what happened to us and you stabbed me in the back.
It didn’t matter how many chances that I let you try, you never changed,
And I will no longer sit here and choke myself on your pity, I’m not sorry.

And now I can see that everything you told me was a lie,
And I was such a fool for trying to make it all work out,
But now you are gone just like the wind, you walked out,
And now your stupid love is just an illusion inside of my mind.
