Im Not Her Poem by Larisa Marie Davis

Im Not Her

you think back on that other girl,
you know, the one you made your world.
im not Her.
she caused you pain,
and caused you fear,
back in the reign
of yesteryear,
im not Her.
i dont love you, for its convenience,
and i make fun to cause a scene.
that's not Her.
she didnt seem your type,
and oh boy was i right,
especially after that night,
when it broke into the biggest fight,
cause she left you with the slight
inclination, of there being something more.
im not her.
thank god for that,
i suppose,
with her polished nails and preppy clothes,
you loved Her.
now you lapse back to the ways,
of all the pain of yesterdays,
and you start over with someone else,
who resembles the girl,
this poems about,
and she's not the her,
either.
but she seems so similar to Her.
so pain starts up again,
when this new Her passes you up,
for the same friend,
Her left you for to begin with.
and you're bitter and you're hurt,
claiming emo, it does work,
and the first thing you jerk,
realize im not Her.
which should let you, know,
hello,
that this might just be,
the exact thing, you need.
thank god, im not Her.

'her' is capitalized on purpose, because its disembodiment aka, its almost as if im replacing someones name with her. the one lower case 'her' is purposeful, too because that her is a different one than THE Her
