Imminent Death Poem by Emmanuel Odei Oduro

Imminent Death

Death will definitely strike
No human is oblivious
Of this moment, menacing
It is inescapable and unavoidable
I ponder why it makes people panic

It is because of our obsession
Our mad mania with materiality
The cars, houses, jewelry and others
The wife, children, family and friends
The trophies, treasures and those things
Secularly set selves sweat for
Oh! How painful to part from them

Now I appreciate the apprehension
The disquiet to welcome a destined design
Yet the reason for some is crystal clear
It is the fear of not.
The destination after this designed destiny

However, this is a wile, woefully wrong
Since this doubt, is blatantly disentangled
Clearly and categorically, in the Bible
Two destinations awaits us after death
Either head for heaven or hell.

Where you find yourself is your choice
A choice, by your earthly actions, make
By your actions, now, your visa obtained
To the endpoint for everlasting existence
The, you reap what you sow, saw

The choices are yours to make
The consequences are yours to face
Godly deeds earn you a treat in heaven
A deal with the devil deserves a host in hell
The ball is in your court
Where are you preparing to be?
