In Darkness, In Shadows Poem by Justin Tallman

In Darkness, In Shadows

In darkness
I crept
In shadows
I crawl

In darkness
I wake
howling pointlessly
at the moon
dancing next to
a fire I made
to a fire
that brings me pride
and alone
I dance
with no one
to relish
in my act
of God

In shadows
I live
like a memory
invoked
by an act
of a stranger
or an object
similar
to a gift
I gave you
for the success
of your heart

In darkness
In shadows
as a recluse
I exist
