In Memory Of Verne Poem by Evelyn Macdonald

In Memory Of Verne

Rating: 5.0

I had a lovely dream last night, I dreamed that Verne was near
she came on wings so silently and whispered in my ear

'true friendship is a blessing that dwells within the heart
we don't know how it happens or where it gets its start
our times, though short, were happy, we had the best of fun
the Saturday dances ending meant our nights had just begun
so don't be sad that I'm not here for I'm not really gone
I am the warmth within your soul, the music in every song
I'm in the wind that shakes the trees, in stars that light the sky
I'm the red in a glorious sunset, I'm the blue in the butterfly
I'm the fragrant flowers of springtime, I'm the glow in a sunbeam's ray
I'm the falling leaves of Autumn, I'm a frosty winters day
so look around and you will see I haven't gone that far
a smile, a look, a gaze, a sigh, I'm everywhere you are'

This then is our remembrance that all our lifetime through
We'll be thanking heaven, Verne, to have shared a friend like you.
