In Modern Poetry

In modern poetry there is no place for old style rhyme
'Tis seen as belonging to another time
But such is life as some have been known to say
And rhyme now seen as old fashioned though it did have it's day
Change is one thing that is beyond our control
And the passing of the decades on rhyme took it's toll
Yet most things on them do have a use by date
And the modern literary critic the modern poets celebrate
And rhyme now is seen as a thing of the past
But few things in life ever do seem to last
And who knows in the future what does lay ahead
In a century from now poetry may be dead
Mother Nature the only one who will live on
She will still be around when all others are gone.
