In My Old Age/ I Am Too Emotional Poem by Shalom Freedman

In My Old Age/ I Am Too Emotional

In my old age
I am too emotional
I cry more than I should
There is too much sorrow in me
Too much grief and regret
Too easy reminders of loss
Too much easy and deep connection
To the past
In my old age
It is as if I am
In constant grieving
Over all those and all that
I have left behind forever
Including myself as I was long ago
And just yesterday.
