In Praise Of Ignorance Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

In Praise Of Ignorance

The rising craze,
In praise of ignorance.
Has become to represent,
A disrespect for common sense.
Or its usefulness,
To prevent a deepening...
Of more felt anguish.
And sustained pain to prevent.

When in the presence of a pandemic,
More have been made convinced...
This life threatening virus,
Is the cause of politicians.
Seeking to win elections.
And this to believe,
Has people protesting...
Their quality of life,
Entitled to do as they please.
Has nothing to do,
With a spreading to victimize...
Everyone and not just the ones,
Disbelieving their lives...
Is just what such disease,
Feeds upon with death to leave.

The rising craze in praise of ignorance,
Has not stopped many...
From obeying the warning,
To protect themelves.
By keeping a 'social distance'.
This people ignorant refuse to do.
And defiant they are.
Provoked by those in positions of leadership.
Encouraging them not to listen but ignore,
Warnings of death.
Awaiting to knock upon their doors.
Invited to remove,
Not only their lives.
But also the ignorance...
Too late to pray,
In denial their stupidity...
Is given,
Another opportunity with this to hope survives.
