In The Dark With You Poem by Daniel CJ Grant

In The Dark With You

Rating: 4.5

I hear you
tell me your story
open your veins
shed the shame from your fear
I will sit
right here in the dark with you
until the light sneaks its way in.

I’m here for you
and always will be
the avalanche of thoughts and fears
molded into me from the years of
vulnerable identity
years of shrinking for acceptance
I will push that aside for you
and sit in the dark with you
until faith comes crawling back.

It’s not the darkness that we should
fear
it’s the light we never shine bright in
I will sit with you, right here,
in the dark
I will hear you and
allow sunnier days to come again
but don’t fear the shame engulfing
you in this dark
live the days better now that
you’ve been here.
