In The Haunted Woods Poem by Justin Gildow

In The Haunted Woods

A bonfire has been started
And all of my friends have
gathered around
Looking at the ladies
Gazing at the gentlemen
Far away in the distance
Is the nearest town

Tents have been pitched
The fire's all aglow
Tonight
In the haunted woods
We all look around
While we make conversation
Taking in the sights
They say there's a curse here
An unwelcome legend
He roams this place
He holds watch over this place
He doesn't know who we are
But I know he doesn't want us
here
Yet, hopefully
We're all ready for him
We're all counting our lucky stars
tonight
On this very night
To survive

I have a pitchfork
He has a torch
She has an axe
He has a machete
She has a can of mace
He has a poker
She has a knife
And he has an aluminum
baseball bat
Survive if we have to
Do everything we have to do

We'll survive tonight
The best way we can
Across this darkened land
In the haunted woods
