In This Place Poem by Valerie Dohren

In This Place

In This Place

In this place where all is broken
nought to stir the vapid air -
silent words remain unspoken
no-one there to love or care.

In this place where dreams are shattered
days are borne in endless time -
memories recalled are scattered
nothing left to set to rhyme.

In this place where sadness lingers
cold and empty nights prevail -
tears now shed spill through my fingers
as the glow of youth grows pale.

In this place where life has ended
hapless are the days yet borne -
ever now all hope suspended
waiting for a brighter dawn.
