Indefensible Innocence Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Indefensible Innocence

Rating: 5.0

Indefensible is an innocence.
Insisting...
In need to be defended.
When one's guilt has been,
Overwhelmingly documented.
And distributed to many,
Multiple copies...
Of the evidence videotaped.
From various locations.
With that one incident,
Cheered on to perform.

'Is it possible,
That a hired stunt double...
Could have been mistaken,
To be our client?
Since our client claims,
No involvement at all.
Since he was rushed away,
From an angry mob.
He neither met nor invited,
To any of his dinner parties.'

Well...
You may have a point.
And...
That possibility,
No one yet had considered.
Since the stunt double did say,
He would lead them all...
Up the stairs of the Capitol.
And everyone knows,
This to exaggerate or lie about
Has its consequences to pay.

'That's what we are saying.
Why would our client lie?
In fact...
He was nowhere near,
The scene of the crime.
Or alleged to have planned,
The dramatic and nail biting...
Ending.
And our client once notified,
Shouted to have it...
Immediately stopped! '

Oh?
And when was that?

'After the organizers called.
To ask for alibis.
And false excuses of his,
They could possibly use.'
