India Rising Part V Poem by Diwakar Bhatt

India Rising Part V

The tale of atrocities is unending depicting deprivation, terror and pain,
While rescuing our motherland many heroes like Bhagat singh were slain.

Subhash Chandra Bose was a dare devil who gave jitters to mighty empire,
I. N. A. he formed to free India but was not lucky enough to fulfill his desire.

The reins of the movement were being tossed from one hand to another,
Finally Gandhi and Nehru took over to prepare for a decisive leap further.

Their words stirred the soul of masses, the human deluge gathered fast,
Vows were sworn to do or die, the rule of white monster not going to last.

All is well that ends well, the long and arduous battle was won after all,
The Britishers lifted their anchors and sailed away with guilt and gall.

15th August,1947 was the gala day, freedom much awaited we received,
Our cherished dream would take so long to come true we never conceived.

Sunshine and air of free India gave a great respite to its citizens worthy,
Hundreds of years were passed in suffocation and darkness unhealthy.

After many years of bondage, we tasted the sweetest fruit of freedom,
Difficult path to prosperity required sincere efforts and true wisdom.

Poverty, illiteracy and social disparity was the only legacy we received,
But honesty, high moral and vision we had in which we always believed.

Then started the Herculian task of building new India brick by brick fair,
Millions of dedicated hands joined to shape an entity beyond compare.

Not a boasting but reality, India is much more than a golden bird of yore,
Modern approach and avid pursuit for excellence will keep it in the fore.

Nehru to Indira, to Rajeev and now in the hands of Rahul the Young Turk,
India is Rising in the limitless sky to new heights by their visionary work.
