Indoda Madoda

Ngiyindoda madoda
Nami ngiyindoda emadodeni
Bathi indoda ayikhali,
Kant ubani owathi umuntu omubi
Akabuzwa ubuhlungu

Ey kunzima ukuba yindoda
Ngithi ngiyalala bathi
Ayikho inkomo yobuthongo
Baqinisile, ubuthongo bungathenga
Inkomo busebenzaphi?
Angithi nala madoda azenza
Abesifazane abalekela ukudla
Yona inkomo?

Bathi indoda idla
Izithukuthuku zayo kodwa
Ngiyazidla azingisuthisi,
Nami ngifuna uphuthu,
Bangigwaza ngomkhonto
Owodwa nje kant
Uph’uthu.

Kanti l; e nkululeko yayinikezwa
Abesifazane bodwa yin?
Angith abesifazane
Bathi banamrights kant aphi
Awethu ama left?
Angithi nithi 50/50 nje?

Ay okwehlula amadoda
Kuyabikwa, pho mina
Ngizobika kuyiphi indoda
Ngoba asephenduke
Amakhosikazi ngoba
Ebalekela ukumela
Ubudoda bawo?

Ay ake nibuye madoda
Sidleni amalefts ethu
Sikhohlwe amarights
Abantu besifazane.

Indoda ayimithi
Yingakho kuthiwa
Ubudoda abukhulelwa,
Indoda yindoda ngezinkomo
Zayo ay ngokudla izinkomo
Zabo, bese kudlalwa
Ngamanye amadoda
Kuthiwe awakhokhe
Izinkomo ngenkomo
Ekade yahlatshwa yabulawa

OkaMadlala ubengadlali
Kodwa ubebeka
Njengendoda madoda!

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
