Hope resuscitates in the face of disaster
but when lives perish and no one survives
nothing brings consolation more than affliction
as conflicts and questions subdues the sorrow;
each one keeps accepting what has happened
each one keeps praying for their loved one
each one keeps wiping away each other's tears
each one keeps clinging to indomitable courage;
many families distraught and unstable,
unwilling to accept the truth that stares in their faces;
they are gone altogether they tell each other
they have been lost forever, moan their mothers.
Could fate be so rough and reckless
could destiny offer no time and opportunity to escape
when life at its brink stood holding promises
had they to vanish in the skies
and disappear in the ocean below?
so many hearts with so many desires,
so many will now wait for them with yearnings;
each parent will cry their own tears
each sibling will feel a deep absence
yet life will move on amidst the sorrow they will feel
and out in the dark on that horizon will sparkle
a memory of those who left on that journey
only to face an end that would leave others in grief;
and while those children will wait
for their dads to come home,
mothers will wait for their sons to come home
when every time they will see a plane that will fly
in those skies of remembrance.
