** INSOMANIA!
When a person is unable to close his eyes,
To rest his thoughts and ease his mind;
And Morpheus the God of sleep is most
unkind!
When constant companions are pain and
stress, -
Leading to this form of sleeping distress!
When counting sheep no longer help,
And he appears to be sitting on the edge of
a ledge!
This elusive sleep he no longer can bear,
And he keeps tossing in bed in despair!
When the tick of the clock gets magnified,
Like a haunting rhyme inside the mind!
Insomania is like some sleepless phobia,
Terrorizing sleep, like some sleeping mafia!
A ruthless don who keeps you awake,
To see the first light of dawn at every day
break!
Eating habits and change of life style, -
The doctors are known to generally advice!
Though meditation and yoga is said to help,
To rid you from this nightly distress!
Tranquilizers and sedatives alone, may not
help,
Since their side effects are only temporarily
shelved! !

(However in Homeopathy we have some medicines
without side effects!)
it isn't mere pain even happiness and excess weariness and sometimes when we finish a job to heart's content...even these don't allow us a wink. that's what my experience tells me...i wrote 'haikus of insomnia' the night i couldn't take a wink tho' there's no despair or pain but just overflowing energies!

I would like to translate this poem
Raj. I've also written a poem on insomia (not yet posted) , and can immediately connect with your interpretation of the 'beast.' It's good to know how others are dealing with such problem.
