Insomniac Poem by Syed Mizbahuddeen

Insomniac

I spent all night
Looking at the stars
The blood-red moon
I watched it turn
Silver-white
I watched it rise
Upon the skies
I watched..
And amid raven-like clouds
The moon rose higher
And I felt smaller
I watched..
I looked around
No one, none
Was around
I looked around
The silence
Was deafening
And the moon
Was far
And I,
Was nothing.
I watched the moon split, a bit
Before I knew that I was dying inside.
