Invasion Poem by Thomas Ware

Invasion

Deadly forces all conspire,
To battle man, with sparks and fire.
Lightning falls, children burn,
Friends and family both must yearn,
For the things to drink their fill,
Of blood and war and broken will,
Death and carnage, shattered dreams,
Evil reigns and mankind bleeds.

Stormclouds wrap the sky in shade,
While the life in eyes do fade,
Forever, from this mortal coil,
While in your skull, brains start to boil,
From the massive fires blazing,
And the smoke obscures while hazing,
The horizon, for I can't see,
The end of all this misery.

How can we fight,
Against the unseen,
Wights, and sprites,
Who release blights,
Of pestilence, for their sight,
Is black and white,
So they can't see,
How evil reigns and mankind bleeds.

The streets are filled with floods of blood,
And tears, and sweat and crimson mud.
When oh when will this nightmare end?
I asked it that, and the nightmare grinned.
