Invisible Poem by Leon Gakuo

Invisible

Rating: 5.0

The wind blows right through you
As you float around, barely touching the ground
The sounds sail right by you
As the ones inside your head get louder
You listen but there is
Nothing left for you to hear
No one left to hear you speak

The crowds smile past you
You try to smile back but even you can't feel your face anymore
Faceless demon you have become

Friends you can't recognize anymore
Despising the ring on your phone, the beep from their texts
The sound of your doorbell and the light from the rising sun
You hate it all, it irks and saddens,

You ignore the world
Knowing not how to disappear from it
You turn out the lights, seal the curtains tight
Until your eyes see nothing anymore,
But the pain inside you
In your heart and mind,
Betrays the continued existence of the world
You are so desperate to shut out

In the darkness
Thoughts engulf you
You stare down at your hands
Rough from toil, trembling from anguish
Held out in despair
Holding out for salvation

Flashes of the life you had
The fun times
The laughs, smiles, trips
For so long you experienced so much
But it was always veiled
Reaching out but never quite touching it

One last song
One last drink
One last phone call
Then you close your eyes one last time
Before you end it all
If only you knew how to feel,
If only you weren't so invisible,
Then you wouldn't have had to live your life
DEAD!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A poem I have written down many times before. That betrays my reality, a reality that only I perceive. And that if others experience feelings similar to this they may not despair, because songs can always change midtune and find a different ending.
