Invitation Poem by Jamarra Butterfield

Invitation

The way it all started you would have thought I was cold hearten
But someone had to make the 1st blow.
You threw your lines at me
So confident about the bullshit you speak
See I wasn't amazed at why my eyes were perfectly brown
I'm aware of my pleasantly plum firm hip
And the little notion about my breast being "just right"
I didn't discover I had this shape over night.
If I were indeed that "angel" that slipped out of heaven
Your wicked talks would be the last thing I'd spread my wings for.
So the sun is shining today because I made it pass your way?
The gate to the kingdom opened up, because your day was going rough
Until I came along?
Same old sad song.
I bet you told about 10 girls that today
As a matter of fact I came 5 minutes after the last one turned you away.
See your Honda sitting on rims don't amaze me
You're still making bank payments, how will you take care of me?
The heels that make my thighs look firmly good
Somehow makes you want to give me the world if you could?
But you're still allowing me to walk along side your car
I'm standing here still deliberating ………your intentions
But did I forget to mention that your hair needs to be cut
And there are about 10 cars behind that you have backed up
It's been 5 minutes and still no numeral exchange, now what?
See, I'm making my way home from that long bus ride
Still pondering, who extended you the invitation to roll alongside?
