Invitational Death Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Invitational Death

Accepted.
Invitational death.
Neglected to reject warnings,
Of its effective threats.
With the taking the risk and chance,
Exceptions will be protected.
Although those exceptions,
No has received to inspect...
Who or what it is that qualifies,
A pass to give...
After accepting death's invitation.
To believe themselves immuned.
When on the invitation,
'PAYOR' not 'PRAYER' is printed clearly...
For all to see!

"Isn't it fantastic?
We have been given permission,
To remove from us restrictions.
And return to our normal lives,
To again live as we choose and wish."

-Even to dismiss,
A virus and pandemic that still exists? -

"Well...
What is more important these days?
The health of the economy?
Or the wellbeing of humanity?
And...
Where is this so-called threat?
I have yet to see it.
Have you?
I had been masked and kept,
A social distance from it.
And nowhere has it made,
Itself known to make an appearance."

-Neither does stupidity.
Until it's too late,
From volunteering to welcome it...
As part of your life to live.-

"Are you saying I am ignorant? "

-Me?
I'm not saying that at all.
And I see no reason,
Why you have to prove it either! -
